Have you ever watched an episode of the TV show “Antiques Roadshow” ? Every so often someone brings in an unusual object and says something like “I found this in my Grandmother’s attic but have no idea what it is or if it is worth anything.” The appraiser takes a look at said item. He then removes the dust and shines it up. Suddenly it goes from being old and dusty to beautiful. Then to the amazement of those around him, he reveals to the owner “This is so valuable I cant even tell you how much it is worth.” That, my friends, is a wonderful comparison to our beautiful and ancient Catholic devotions. Our ancestors knew the power of their worth and practiced them devoutly. Sadly, for the past several decades they have been ignored! They have been placed in our grandparent’s “spiritual attics” and forgotten about. Their value is beyond measure and yet we do not realize their true worth. Well, dont you think it’s time to “dust them off” and use them as God intended?
